Guest Editor's Introduction to the Special Issue on Historical Geography of Religious Culture

This Special Issue is based on the Symposium on Historical Geography of Religious Culture held at the 2004 Annual Meeting of the Association on July 4th, 2004 in Matsue City. It consists of five articles with two comments on each, two comments on the whole Symposium and the conclusion. Themes dealt in the papers are religious organization in the community, pilgrimage, worship catchment area of the shrine, temple town, pictorial map, feng shui, cemetery, and so on. The Editor wishes the Special Issue would contribute to the progress in this research field.
