On Commemorating the History of the Department of Geography: An example of the commemoration program of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Department of Geography, Komazawa University

丂In February of 2005, the Department of Geography at Komazawa University held a ceremony and published a book in commemoration of its seventy-fifth anniversary. This paper regards this program as an example of the "commemoration" of the geographical organization, and observes it with special reference to the money and persons concerned. It is pointed out that the financial support from the University was of much help for the success of the program, and the participation rate of the graduates whose ages are at present sixties and seventies is much higher. By comparing these cases, difference among universities and their characteristics can be clarified.
